Tech Féile 2022

The largest national celebration for young people with Irish to celebrate their creative technology projects!

What’s happening

Kicking off on 4th February, and culminating in a live awards ceremony on the 28th April, this year’s format will see each school and club entering one group project instead of individual student projects. Projects will be fully supported by the Tech Space team with weekly support sessions on offer, along with all of the equipment and information you will need to complete your project. This year, you will recieve a robot kit and you will have to prepare it for a regional and national competition. Your robot will compete in three distinct stages: a race aganist the clock on the race track, a mystery event where you have to move objects in the arena and also battle in the arena.Schools and clubs can submit various ideas they have across different categories.

Why this approach?

Tech Féile will provide more guidance and support than ever before, to ensure each educator has exactly what they need for their students! Students will be challenged as they need to consider their strengths and weaknesses. They will need to plan effectively and be as prepared as possible. Through weekly sessions with the TechSpace team, we aim to make sure that each group has all of the support they need to learn and grow in their chosen area.

The programme of events, which will run over twelve weeks, will culminate in a live awards ceremony celebrating all projects, and with awards for those projects which stand out in terms of their creativity and innovation.

Tech Féile Gone By

We're interested! Who can participate?
  • Tech Féile is open to educators, youth workers and young people aged 12-18, who attend Gaelscoileanna, any Gaelcholáiste and Youth Organizations that operate through Irish. For those already in our network, contact your regional TechSpace officer. If you’re not already part of our TechSpace network, get in touch by emailing TechSpace STEAM Education Officer Jules Ní Chonchobhair.

If you have any questions, or would like further information before getting started, do not hesitate to get in touch.

Let's go! We're in! How do we begin?

Great! You can begin by registering the details of the projects you and the young people you are working with are interested in. Submit as many ideas you like in STEAM, Computer Science, and Digital Media categories.

From documentaries, to computer games, VR and AR to robotics and coding. If it’s STEAM, Computer Science, or Digital Media, we look forward to all of your ideas! Submit them using this form. For more information on this year’s categories, click here

If you have any questions about your submission or any other aspects of Tech Féile and TechSpace, please do get in touch.

Help! What supports are available?

We want every school and club to get the best out of Tech Féile that they can. To support our schools and youth clubs, we will be offering the following:

  • Our TechSpace team will provide you with weekly support sessions
  • Equipment: We will help every school and club with equipment for their project
  • Guides: We can provide guides and advice on any aspect of your project
  • Ideas: If you need any advice or ideas on developing your project, we’ll help!

If there is any other way in which we can support you, please get in touch with your regional TechSpace officer, and we will do all that we can!
